Rev. Joy Engelsman brings a depth of pastoral wisdom and a gentle, steady presence to her role as Parish Associate for Pastoral Care. Though newly arrived in the Denver Presbytery, she carries decades of experience shaped by a lifelong commitment to worship, spiritual formation, and compassionate ministry. A gifted pianist and organist, Joy is known for her creative worship planning and her ability to weave music and liturgy into spaces of beauty, reverence, and connection.
Joy holds an M.Div. from Denver Seminary and is certified in life coaching through three organizations, including Gallup CliftonStrengths. Her training grounds her ministry in both theological depth and practical tools for personal and spiritual growth.
Her six years as a hospice chaplain profoundly shaped her approach to pastoral care, teaching her to walk tenderly with people through every season of life—celebrating joys, honoring sorrows, and holding a candle of hope to bring warmth and light. Her ministry is marked by sincerity, deep listening, and a heartfelt desire to journey alongside others with grace and dignity.
In addition to her parish role, Joy serves as a Validated Minister of the Denver Presbytery through her global work with Youth for Christ International, where she trains and coaches youth leaders around the world. Whether offering care in a local congregation or equipping emerging leaders across continents, Joy’s ministry is rooted in compassion, creativity, and a profound love for God’s people.
