All My Children - On this Mother's Day, we see God as mother of all, especially those who are hurting. God has a preferential treatment for the least of these, the suffering, those suffering, and those who are "less than" in the world's eyes. In a world of stranger danger, we live out an ethic and preach a gospel where righteousness and justice are lived out best through love of neighbor, demonstrating justice through acts of mercy especially for the most vulnerable and most marginalized. We literally create a table (the Table). We are at our most "Christian" when we can see everyone around us as the children of God, when our motherly instinct is triggered to care, shelter, provide, and take in.
