IFCS is one of our missions that we give to year round! They have a food bank that has been very helpful and always well stocked, especially this year with Covid-19. We have given them close to $10,000.00 this year alone in relief of Covid-19. We are also known as the stuffing church as we supplied them enough stuffing to last the entire year last year. This year, we are doing a drive for Tuna and Tuna Helper or Loaves and Fishes to stock their pantry with protein packed meals for the needy.
Heartbeat Denver Working Men’s Shelter (Formerly New Genesis)
The Shelter averages about 90 people a day with a capacity of 120. Residents are required to have a job, pay weekly fees, and be sober. Residents also have the opportunity to participate in a Program to learn financial skills, job search skills, and how to build a support community that will help them reach their goal of staying sober and transitioning into an independent lifestyle.
Love Inc. is our mission that provides resources like diapers, formula, personal care items as well as a IMPACT program of life skills classes and coaching. They can help the whole family in a way a lot of organizations do not. We have donated over $3200.00 this year to the program!
Grace's Mission committee and the Session have added Journey with Migrants this year as an area of focus; particularly since more and more it is becoming a dominant issue on the news. No matter where one might stand politically on the issue of immigration, it is good for us as a big-tent church to be walking alongside immigrants and to learn from people who are already engaged with them. Phyllis Clerihue has been involved in this ministry and also the Cross Cultural Covenant Community we belong to is exploring how we can be involved with Journey with MIgrants as well. If you have an interest in exploring being a part of this ministry and attending the 4th Thursday of the month meetings with Pastor David and Phyllis Clerihue, consider yourself invited. We are praying for and working towards a non-political and non-advocacy way for Grace to engage with Journey with Migrants and their focus on helping people caught in the hotbed of poltitcal crossfire. The stated goal of Journey with Migrants is to "be the Presbytery of Denver's corporate response to the needs of undocumented residents who have migrated to Colorado and individuals and families who are seeking asylum in the United States."
