Proverbs 1:5

Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance.

Adult Ministries at Grace seek to provide the environment and opportunities for adult learners to grow in the love and knowledge of Christ; grow in their understanding of Scripture; be transformed more and more into the likeness of Christ; encourage and build up one another in Christ; empower one another to live out the Gospel; empower people to use their gifts; and grow in understanding of God’s mission in the church community and beyond.

Sundays, April 22, 29 and May 6

9:00 – 9:45 AM, Youth Room

Regardless of age or stage in life, this series is for you!

“Soulful Living in the Age of Technology”
Movie events like “Screenagers” and the rise in self-help mindfulness practices are signs that we are not in Kansas anymore. Life today is becoming increasingly complex and challenging in a technologically saturated culture. How do we make good choices and set healthy boundaries with our time and technology? How do we slow down and make time to find meaningful relationships, to grow in a consequential faith? How do we find our spiritual center, not just for us but for the sake of our children? As parents how do we navigate all the grey shades of grey, instilling autonomy and responsibility in our children? How do we help foster resiliency in an egocentric and fragmented world?

April 22 – Earth Day: Faith, Technology, and Nature
On this Earth Day, we will ask the primary question of what it means to be human today in light of the relationship between technology, new media (screen time) & how it affects us psychologically and spiritually. We will explore several cultural attitudes toward technology and paradigms for understanding faith in the greater context of the natural world. We will discuss practical applications for the workplace, school, and home environment.

April 29 – Faith, Technology, and Parenting
We will address the major shifts related to technology in childhood through teenage years, & how it affects our kids developmentally and the quality of family life. We will discuss practical applications for the workplace, school, and home environment, including “Walden zones” and healthy boundaries with technology.

May 6 – Faith, Technology, and Eldering
We will address the major shifts related to technology in elderhood & how elders can support healthy relationships and mentoring for younger generations. We will discuss practical applications in the second half of life.
